TWO Okehampton air cadets are representing the South West after success in recent swimming events.

At the recent annual Devon and Cornwall Wing Swimming Gala at HMS Raleigh at Torpoint, Gareth Jones achieved five gold medals for individual events in the freestyle, breast stroke, back stroke, butterfly and individual medley.

Greg Cheyne achieved third and fourth places in freestyle, back stroke and breast stroke.

Both boys, who are members of the 2443 Squadron Okehampton Air Cadets, were selected to represent the wing at RMB Lympstone for the regional trials where they achieved second and third places.

They are now due to represent the South West at the Air Training Corps championships at Royal Air Force Officer Training College RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire.
