A PLANT nursery near Okehampton won a silver gilt medal for its display at the Chelsea Flower?Show last week. Bowden Hostas, which is run by Tim and Ruth Penrose, at Sticklepath, and is a holder of the National Collection of Hostas, has been displaying its shade-loving hosta plants in the Grand Floral Pavilion each year at Chelsea, since 1996. This year the company also won a silver gilt for a display in collaboration with Rickards Ferns and a bamboo exhibit with PW Bamboo won a silver medal. Bowden Hostas will also be attending the BBC Gardeners' World Live event in June and the RHS shows at Hampton Court and Tatton Park later this year.
