TWO more fundraising days have been organised by the Meadow's Makeover team running up to Christmas.

The team have organised these events to help raised funds for the renovation of the Meadow's play area in Tavistock.

The team recently held its first fundraising day in Bedford Square raising £2,332, with £450 from the Tavistock Round Table bacon baps still to come, making a total of £2,782.

Keri Pierce of the Meadow's Makeover team, said: 'We couldn't have been happier with our first fundraising day and would like to thank Tavistock Roundtable for all their support.

'But we can't let the grass grow under our feet — we've still a long way to go in our fundraising so would ask everyone to please help us and support these two events.'

The first event this Saturday from 10am to 2pm is a craft and table top sale taking place at Tavistock Methodist Church.

With Christmas shopping high on everyone's agenda this is an essential one-stop shop for all Christmas goodies with cards, wrapping paper, toys, crafts and games.

The team has also organised a Christmas bake-off competition to be judged by the team from Cakes, Bakes and Shakes of Tavistock — the winner receiving the prize of a Christmas food hamper.

To enter the Christmas bake-off competition, bring along the cake or pastries before 10.30am. Judging will be at 10.30am and the entries will then be sold in aid of the meadows. Entry on the door is 50p.

An 80s fancy dress disco for all the 'disco divas' who like to strut their stuff is taking place on December 14 at 7.30pm.

With 80s-themed games including a lucky dip and a pin the bandana and earring on Adam Ant, the night also includes a supper of a pasty and salad, and the DJ is local personality Pete Tomes.

Tickets for the disco, priced £12, need to be bought in advance from In the Treehouse, behind Oggy Oggy, Paddon's Row, Tavistock.

The Meadow's Makeover team was formed after a campaign started on Facebook by parents concerned about the condition of the play equipment.

Tavistock Lions are adding to the fundraising by donating all the money they raise from their Christmas raffle this year, with a first prize donated by Tavistock and Totnes Picture Framing Galleries — an original David Chambers painting.

The town council continue to support the group by providing trestle tables for the upcoming sale.
