TAVISTOCK started out strongly, dominated the play and opened the scoring early with a well taken goal by Sue Gawman. This was followed up quickly by another goal from Laura Armstrong.

Torbay responded with some good rapid passing into the Tavi 'D' and fired the ball into the back of the net.

Tavistock did not let this faze them and put together some good moves with Emma White and Becky Lamb linking well down the right. The visitors were awarded a penalty corner that was converted by Laura Stapleton.

However, Torbay quickly followed this up with another goal from fast open play. The play was then end to end before Tavistock's Sarah McClumpha scored the first of her three goals. Torbay then scored two goals in quick succession ending the first half at 4-4 all.

Tavistock opened the second half strongly and the man-marking seemed to be working. The midfield of McClumpha, Armstrong, Stapleton and White distributed the ball effectively to the forwards of Gawman, Eadie and Lamb.

It was not long before McClumpha scored again with a great reverse stick shot. Tavistock were awarded numerous penalty corners from which McClumpha got her hat-trick.

The Tavistock defence were holding out Torbay but they were always dangerous on the break and managed to slot home another goal before Tavistock missed a chance from a penalty flick.

The home side were then reduced to ten as a player was red carded for dissent. The home side seemed to lose all their fight after this and Tavistock put on wave after wave of attacks. Gawman came close to getting her second after a lovely long range hit into the 'D' but was just unable to control it enough to score.

Lamb and White continued with some great linking play down the right with Lamb passing the defenders with ease.

The final goal of the game came to Tavistock from a penalty corner which Kate Eadie pushed over the line at close range.
