NOMINATIONS are being sought for an innovative awards scheme to mark the achievements of people, organisations and businesses in West Devon.

Borough Mayor Cllr Peter Hill is spearheading the West Devon Mayoral Awards this year.

They fall into two categories - to a young person under the age of 18 and to an organisation or

business in the borough or a person aged 18 years or over.

Cllr Hill, who will be one of the judges of the Awards, said: ?We are looking for those who have done something particularly noteworthy within the Borough or enhanced the reputation of West Devon on the national stage.?

Last year the awards were won by 17-year-old Tavistock student Zoe Viggers of Bere Alston and Tavistock Town Crier and Mace Bearer Bob Rose.

Nominations for this year?s awards must be sent in by Friday January 30th 2004 and the winners will be announced on Tuesday March 2, 2004.

So, if you know of any person, business or organisation you think should be in line for an award, send in your nominations.
