MAYOR of West Devon Borough Council Cllr Alison Clish-Green, and her mayoress Cllr Kirstie Clish-Green presented cheques totalling almost £700 to their chosen charities, Dartmoor Rescue Group and the Alzheimers' Society, to mark the end of their year in office.

One of the cheques was received by Lynda Williams, fundraising officer for the rescue group, and the other by Pauline Rooks of the Alzheimers' Society in a presentation ceremony in the grounds at Kilworthy Park in Tavistock.

The money was raised from fundraising activities during Cllr Clish-Green's year as mayor, including a collection taken at her civic service, and donations from councillors and staff in lieu of Christmas cards.

Money donated by staff for 'dress down days' also went to the two charities.
