A LARGE congregation enjoyed the Salvation Army Carol Service at the United Reformed Church in Tavistock recently.
Among the guests were Mayor of Tavistock Norma Woodcock and Salvation Army divisional commander's wife Major Jean Bradbury.
The Plymouth Whitleigh Salvation Army Band was present and Alan Myners played the organ, accompanying vocalist Victoria Norton and Karen and Anna Renouf who played flute solos and duets.
Readings were by Rev Prebendary John Rawlings and the Rev Roger Cornish of the United Reformed Church, Lt Col Joan Williams and Envoy Diane Cains.
A thought for Christmas was given by Major Joyce Holmes, the Corps officer.
A total of £216 was collected for the Salvation Army's project 'Two by Two' which enables families to help themselves by giving them animals which they can make a living from such as chickens, goats and cows.
Tea, coffee and mince pies followed the service.
