Mrs Corner?s access to the green was made possible thanks to the new purpose made ramp which had been donated to the club by the trustees of the in-house ?100 club? lottery fund.
Club chairman Tony Coombs welcomed members and reminded them that the club needed to become totally ?disabled friendly? by 2004 and that alterations were needed to both the access to club premises and toilet facilities in order to comply with requirements of the Act.
Club captain Brian Preece reported members can look forward to a heavy bowling season, with some 82 men?s and mixed matches scheduled.
The ladies? section, under the captaincy of Mrs Bill Saunders, have more than 35 matches and the club have away fixtures as far away as Bideford, Barnstaple, Paignton and Teignmouth.
As well as the arranged fixtures, members will be able to enter club, league, county and national competitions and club competition prize winners will be able to look forward to picking up their trophies at the annual dinner to be held at the rugby club on October 4.
Mr Coombs reminded members the club is to hold two ?public open days? on Sundays April 27 and May 11, when members of the public are invited to come along at either 10am or 2pm and try the game free of charge and with no obligation to join the club.
