THE line-up for this year's Callington MayFest has been announced and the whole town is sure to be buzzing with excitement. There's plenty happening in the town, in the streets, in the shops, town hall and pubs during the festival on Saturday, May 10. The day starts at 1pm as the procession leads off from the Saltash Road Recreation Park. Dancers and musicians will make their way into the centre of the town, demonstrating the specially commissioned Callington Furry Dance. Viewers are welcome to join the procession. There is a final dance workshop at 10am on Saturday (May 3) in Callington Town Hall (which is free if you haven't been before), and a chance to learn the simple basic steps at 12.30pm on the day before the procession sets off. An afternoon of music and dance in the town hall will follow, including the Town Band, Plymouth Maids, Morris dancers, a gospel choir and storytelling and an evening concert and dance will start at 7.30pm with Cornish Celtic dance band Skillywidden. Places for some of the activities are limited, so reserving in advance is recommended. Tickets are £8, under 18s £6 and families (2+2) £22, and available from the town hall, Kivells or can be reserved by emailing [email protected]">[email protected] For more information visit the website http://www.callingtonmayfest.weebly.com">www.callingtonmayfest.weebly.com
