Bramdean School XI 0

Kelly College Senior Colts XI 4

THE weather played an important role in this fixture with Kelly having to travel to Exeter, due to an unplayable pitch at home.

It proved to be a one-sided game controlled by Kelly. Nick Boot-Handford was rarely troubled in goal and Denis Connolly, terrorising the Bramdean defence, scored two goals and missed several more. Simon Wright, with a 30-yard drive, added the third and the scoring was completed by Ed May.

PLAYING with the wind in the first half, Kelly controlled the game but, after taking a deserved lead, allowed their concentration to lapse, letting Shebbear in for a well-taken goal just before half-time.

The second half saw Kelly play their best football of the season so far. James Kaminski, having already scored in the first half, added a second and should have completed his hat-trick when he somehow managed to guide the ball onto the post from six yards out.

The team added two goals from Matt Luxton (captain) and Alex Edwards.

Although Dominic Chammas was beaten twice at the other end in the second half, Kelly ran out victors.

IN the first 15 minutes, Kelly maintained a high level of good football and were rewarded by a short-range goal from Rob Shaw.

Shebbear responded with a well-constructed counter-attack, resulting in an equaliser. A dubious tackle gave Shebbear a free kick 30 yards out which was floated into the box. Due to slippery conditions, the Kelly keeper made a mistake and Shebbear took the upper hand. A scrappy goal for Shebbear followed after careless defending and with only ten minutes left a win looked unlikely for Kelly.

Following a reshuffle in midfield at half-time, Ed May gave a great finish to a high ball played from deep defence and in the last minute, Jan Breitsohl dribbled through the Shebbear defence to get the equaliser.
