Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 2

Mary Tavy 4

Tywardreath RBL 1

THIS win takes Tavy to the top of Duchy 2 as fellow league contenders Nanpean and Delabole both slipped up in the race for the title.

Nanpean struggled to a draw away to Queen?s Rangers and Delabole lost to the odd goal in seven away to Foxhole ? all good news for Tavy as they romped to their ninth straight win.

James Philpotts, who later claimed the man of the match award, struck twice with James Coole and Mark Piper each with one apiece in between.

Tywardreath were no easy opponents and at the halfway stage all was square at 1-1.

Philpott?s opener was a lovely first time effort as he met Coole?s cross, to give the advantage to the home side, but this was cancelled out as Tavy let the visitors level with the easiest of opportunities .

Coole restored Tavy?s upper hand, driving an unstoppable shot through a crowd of players as he met a half-clearance on the edge of the penalty area.

Tony Rawlings saw the points were going Tavy?s way with an excellent one-on-one stop which the striker should have done better with.

Two goals in the last five minutes sealed the victory as Piper finished off a great passing move involving Bartlett, Philpotts and Stephens with a shot low into the far corner. Philpotts finished his brace with some authority and jubilation as he virtually smashed the ball home.
