IT has been another busy week for Okehampton Golf Club, with the Lions holding their re arranged meeting on Tuesday. Wednesday was the ladies' qualifying stableford. This saw Mary Keir winning the silver division with 33 points, second was Jane Warren 29 points and third was Kath Mansell 28 points.

The bronze division was won by Maureen Howe with 32 points, second was Trish Vick 28 points on countback from Jenni Hutchinson.

The low scores made this a reduction only competition, showing how tricky this course is playing at the moment with drying weather after the high summer rainfall.

On Friday four Okehampton ladies went to Exeter to play in the Express and Echo finals. Penny Deakin and Cherry James went to defend the title they won last year and had 34 points, which was in the lead until the Saunton ladies came in at the end of the field. Unfortunately for the Okehampton pair they had scored an impressive 38, thus putting Penny and Cherry into the runners-up position.

Mary Keir and Sally Griffin were the other qualifiers and played well but lost out on the prizes on countback.

Saturday was a three ball two to count stableford. Graham Moysey, Del Owen and Del Nash were the runaway winners of division one with a tremendous score of 81 points. Second were Martin Aggett, Mike Charlesworth and Matt Mills with 74 points on countback from Chris Ball, Chris Hurley and Martin Cox.

Division two winners were Tony Beer, Phil Atherton and Lee Pengelly with 76 points, second Mike Lang, Steve Gregory and Kevin Harding with 74 points and third were Nick Waldron, Bob Collett and Ray Grey with 73 points.
