WEST Devon people featured in a glittering regional awards ceremony last Friday, held at St Mellion Golf and Country Club.
Mary Thompson, who owns Teddy?s Dolls House in Russell Street, Tavistock, Dave Chapple, the town?s traffic warden, and Maureen Rolls, of Princetown, were nominated for recognition in the Premier South West Local Champions awards, run by BBC Spotlight South West and the Western Morning News.
Mrs Thompson was nominated in the creativity section for her years devoted to mending the broken limbs of teddies and dolls from her ?hospital? in Tavistock.
Mrs Thompson said the awards ceremony was ?a fantastic night? and a very emotional experience.
?West Devon did extremely well, there were so many nominations from this area ? I knew so many people there, it was absolutely wonderful,? she said.
Dave Chapple was nominated in the heroism section. He stepped in to help police during an incident involving a man armed with a knife, earning respect from his colleagues and the public.
Maureen Rolls, the founder of the South West Equine Protection Society, was nominated in the compassion section. She has saved hundreds of injured or neglected ponies on Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor over the years.
