FOLLOWING on from previous courses held in West Devon, a further marriage course gets underway in Okehampton next week. It will be led by Kevin and Della Ball and will start on Wednesday, May 18, at 7.30pm in the Church Hall, Market Street. The course aims to give any married couple the tools to build a strong and healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. Over seven evenings spent together couples talk about important issues that can get swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life. Topics covered include recognising each other?s needs, learning to communicate effectively, resolving conflict, healing past hurt, knowing how to make each other feel loved, relating to parents and in-laws, good sex, making time for each other and having fun together. Privacy as a couple is always respected. There are no group discussions and no requirement to disclose anything about your relationship to anyone else. The only people involved in discussions are the couple themselves. The marriage course is for any married couple who want to build a strong and lasting relationship and may be especially helpful to those as a challenging stage in their marriage, such as the birth of a child, a career change, teenagers at home, or the ?empty nest?. The course, while based on Christian principles, is not just for couples with a religious faith or church background. The Rev Mike Davies, marriage course advisor for Devon and Cornwall said: ?I am pleased that we are running yet another course in Okehampton. It has proved to be of extreme benefit to many marriages in the Mid and West Devon area, with people attending the course from Okehampton, Tavistock and further afield. ?I am also pleased that Kevin and Della Ball will be running the next course, as they themselves attended a course held in Okehampton and have now been trained to deliver courses.?
