ON the Tavistock Times Gazette front page (December 21) was the banner headline 'The meaning of Christmas' and on page 5 'Traders are divided over market development'.
Mr Roger Bird, of Palmers, is quoted as being 'very irate' that public money was being given to promote a farmers' market — and Mr Vic Stacey, of Crebers, is quoted as saying he 'agreed absolutely' with Mr Bird.
As John McEnroe so often said: 'You cannot be serious'. Whatever can Messrs Bird and Stacey be afraid of? Anyone would think that one of the major supermarket chains is about to open a mega store in Market Road.
