A FULL range of local produce will be on offer at Okehampton?s regular farmers? market in the town?s market hall this Saturday. The market, now in its seventh year, now has 23 stallholders, selling meat, fish, bread, juices, preserves ? and this Saturday a new vegetable producer will be joining the event. Linda Davis, market committee member, said the organisers now have permission from the town council to continue using the market hall for at least all of May and June. The council is currently in negotiations with a Cornish firm which wants to convert the hall into a modern multi-screen cinema. Ms Davis said despite the fact the market was ?in limbo? regarding its future position within the town, organisers were ?very optimistic? that its future was secure. Town clerk Don Bent confirmed there have been delays regarding the negotiations with Merlin Cinemas. Mr Bent said: ?I will be talking to the councillors at their meeting on Monday regarding the delays, which is because of problems the company has had regarding its development at Ilfracombe. ?The members will be asked to consider investigating the interim use of the market while the negotiations continue.?
