Okehampton 2nds 6

Thorverton 2nds 0

OKEHAMPTON dominated from start to finish. They took the lead in the first quarter after the visiting keeper sliced his clearance under pressure. The ball fell nicely to Adam Mortimer who tapped home comfortably.

Mortimer looked sharp in the early stages and doubled his tally when he intercepted a poor crossfield pass, outpaced his marker and slotted past the keeper.

Okehampton were passing with great fluency which invited some crude challenges and when Jerome Whatley was upended on the edge of the box he took the direct kick and curled the ball into the top corner to put the home side 3-0 up at the break.

The second half down the slope saw Thorverton defend relentlessly. Okehampton extended their lead when keeper Neil Cliff's long kick was neatly flicked on by an Ian Reddington header to Jason Sandford out wide on the right flank. His low cross was tucked away sweetly by Mortimer for a fine hat-trick.

Okehampton continued to play immaculate football and when Mark Burdus picked up the ball just outside the box, he gave a little look up, saw the keeper off his line, and lobbed him for a classy strike.

Thorverton's misery was completed after fine work on the right from Daniel Johnston whose cross was dispatched by Jason Sandford. The keeper fell heavily as he dived, dislocating his shoulder to finish off a miserable evening for him and his team-mates.
