OKEHAMPTON Golf Club on Saturday held another successful four ball better ball open, which included participants from more than 20 golf clubs across the South West.
Overall winners were Martin Cox and Mark Curtis with 47 points; second were Evan Rees and Graham Starkey with 45 on the back nine from Kevin Cornwall and Arnie Searle.
The winning visitor team from Exeter Golf and Country Club and Teignmouth GC were Colin Wayman and David Wills with 40pts & the runners up also from Teignmouth were Andrew Egginton and Richard Loughton with 36. The best combination team from Okehampton and Bristol Golf Clubs were Jonny Rattenbury andJames Hall with 43.
The first Oke-hampton team were Harry Hawking and Phil Martin with 43pts on the back nine from Dave Bickle and Ian Moore.
The ladies' section held their Invitation Day in good weather. The winners were Lin Atkinson with Fran Shrubsole from Downes Crediton, second were Marcia Jones with Dilys Dalton from Portmore.
In the Express and Echo Foursomes. Marcia Jones and Sue Stanbury plus Jane Warren and Mary Keir will represent the club at the finals in Honiton.
The President's team had a good win against Tavistock at home and are through to the quarter-finals to be played on August 19 at Sidmouth. The Creasy team won at home against Yelverton.
