TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club completed a week of six matches having won three and lost three. The ladies? section two rink friendly game against Oreston on Tuesday ended as a 41-34 victory for Tavistock after skip Marion Allen led her crew to a 21-16 victory and skip Hazel Lovell?s team won 20-18. The ladies? two rink away match at Civil Service on Thursday saw skip Yvonne Meneer and her crew win 16-15, while skip Hazel Lovell?s team lost 16-22, giving Civil Service a 37-32 victory. Thursday also saw the men?s section County Trophy team travel to face a Civil Service Salaried Association team in Plymouth and return home having lost 64-78 despite winning two of the four rinks played. Skips? results were: Mike Allen won 26-15, Norman Paramor won 19-18, Molcolm Bloomer lost 8-22 and Clive Jago lost 11-23. Friday saw both men?s and ladies? teams travelling to Plymouth for matches, with the ladies facing City Bus in a two rink match which Tavistock lost 42-31 after skip Marion Allen went down 15-22 and skip Yvonne Meneer lost 16-20. The men?s team travelled to take part in the Golden Hind Trophy competition which is played between those clubs that have association with Sir Francis Drake. The Tavistock team returned home as winners of this prestigious trophy after they won both of their rinks to achieve a 74-69 overall winning scoreline. Winning skips were Clive Jago and Norman Paramor. Totnes Bowling Club was the venue for six rinks of Tavistock players on Saturday. The mixed match ended as a 90-83 win for Tavistock, after they won two rinks, drew two rinks and lost on two rinks. Skips results were: George Blackburn 13-12, Walter Meek 29-7, Norman Paramor 15-15, Sue Silcox 10-10, Ernie Piper 11-18, Vic Stacey 12-21.
