I FEAR 'eternal' is the timescale regarding the proposal for a marina in Tavistock (Letters, January 31 and February 7).
This project would require a sea level rise of 60m: the height of Tavistock above present sea level.
As a yachtswoman on the Tamar, I know it is impossible to sail up the Tavy anyway, in anything much larger than a dinghy, due to the Calstock-Plymouth railway bridge at the mouth of the Tavy.
Still, presumably this would be well under water (as would the Lopwell Dam and Denham Bridge) and not an obstacle, when sea levels rise 60m!
