RENDELLS of Chagford report a flying trade for a short entry forward of mainly young cattle, at the annual March Fair.

Top of the market, for J. Cuming and Sons, £775 for a 20 month old South Devon heifer, with 20 month old Charolais cross heifers going to £685 for J Northway and Sons, 12 month old Charolais cross steers to £605 for I G S Mortimore and Son and 8 month old Charolais cross heifers to £490.

The overall average for the sale was £616, with a 75% heifer entry.

A larger entry could have been sold to advantage, on the trade, say Rendells.
