A TAVISTOCK man has set his sights on running his way into the Guinness Book of World Records — twice. Adam Holland, who will be 21 in four weeks time, wants to become the youngest person to complete seven marathons in seven continents and the youngest person to run 100 marathons. The youngest person to run 100 marathons is currently a 28-year- old, and the youngest person who managed to complete seven marathons in seven continents is 24. So far Adam has taken part in countless 13 and 26 mile marathons but has only taken part in marathons on two continents, including the London Marathon and Walt Disney World Marathon in America. Adam, a member of Tavistock Athletic Club, said the only way he can complete these challenges is with sponsorship. He said: 'I'm a very keen runner and I have been for many years. The idea for these challenges came after my friend said he wanted to try and complete 100 marathons before he was 60 and was wondering how many he had to go. 'I then went on the Guinness Book of World Records website to find out who was the youngest to complete 100 marathons and came across the challenge of seven marathons on seven continents.' Adam will have to do 13 a year to complete the record of the youngest person to run 100 marathons but he has gone one step further and planned 15 for this year alone. Adam said: 'I'm looking for donations or sponsorship to help me. All will be gratefully received and will help me reach my goal. I really do need the help in order to achieve this.' Adam expressed thanks to Tavistock mayor Anne Johnson and to members of Tavistock Town Council, and to Pete Bazely for their continued support.
