THE BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal received a nice surprise at the show — a generous donation of £225 from fundraiser Ruth Maile.

Ruth raised the money at her holiday cottages in Okehampton with a fun night of folk music, food and friends on July 31 all in aid of the appeal.

Ruth said: 'I raised the money at my cottages, with the folk band coming to stay in the cottages and agreeing to help raise some funds for the charity.'

Receiving the cheque for the appeal was volunteer co-ordinator Debbie Collingwood: 'We would like to thank Ruth for all her hard work in raising this great sum for the appeal. We are having a good day at the show so far, made even better by Ruth's kind donation.'
