ON behalf of the Rotary Club of Okehampton, I would like to thank the mayor, Christine Marsh, the mayoress, Gill Lower, councillors, other organisations and the public, who attended our annual Remembrance service on Monday November 11.
The service was conducted by the Rev Stephen Cook, team rector of the Okehampton and Northmoor Churches and introduced by Rotarian John Burgess. Mr Ian Cann played the organ and the trumpeter was Aaron Diaz from the Okehampton College.
A poem was read by the president of the Inner Wheel, a Bible reading by Rotarian Jerome Twomey, the exhortation read by Bob Horsley, club president, and the names of relatives or friends of those present who died in the wars read by first vice-president John Stevens.
Thanks are expressed to Mrs Joan Gundry who helped with the service, the Okehampton Times for publicity and many others who helped. The offering of £114 is to be given to the Royal British Legion.
Bob Horsley
President
