A MAN in his 80s suffered life-changing injuries after his car left the A390 and collided with a tree near Callington on Tuesday afternoon (January 25).

Emergency services were called at around 2:30pm to reports of a single vehicle collision on the A390 close to the junction with Florence Road.

The Fiat Panda left the road and collided with a tree.

Police said the driver is a man in his 80s; he is believed to have had a medical episode at the wheel.

Fire crew attended to help the ambulance crew free the man from the vehicle. He was then taken to Derriford Hospital with what have been described as life-changing injuries.

There was considerable congestion. The road was fully cleared by around 6:30pm.
