POLICE are appealing for information after a violent robbery took place in Hatherleigh on Tuesday lunchtime.
The victim was at a cashpoint outside Natwest Bank in Hatherleigh when he was attacked and his mobile phone stolen.
The incident happened between noon and 12.15pm when the man was grabbed from behind, an arm placed around his neck and his head pulled back. A second offender then punched the man. His Nokia 3310 mobile phone was stolen from his hand. The attackers said nothing but released their grip of the man and ran off.
The victim, a 39-year-old man from the Torrington area, was not badly hurt.
Police have described the first offender as a white male, aged 19 to 20, 5ft 8ins tall, of large build with short cropped black hair.
He was wearing a blue denim jacket, jeans and trainers.
The second offender has been described as a white male of a similar age, medium build and clean shaven.
He was wearing a green fleece jacket, black trousers and brown shoes.
