LiskeardU15s 0 Tavistock U15s 33 BOROWING a player from the opposition, Tavistock were at their best when recycling the ball quickly from rucks and mauls allowing the backs to demonstrate accurate timely passing. The pack competed well in the set plays against bigger opponents. Chris Dawe playing at fullback took on the roll of flanker in one of the early mauls to dispossess the opposition and quickly pass the ball out to the backs. Euan McCall running strongly tore through Liskeard defences to pick up the first of his two tries. Mark Smith playing at flanker, showed great turn of speed and the eye for a gap to run in a well deserved try. Further tries by Mark Webber and Chris Bray and conversions by Andrew Smerdon and Euan McCall made this a convincing win. Rufus, tactical coach, would have been encouraged by the intelligent kicking by Euan Smith, Chris Bray and Euan McCall over the heads of the oncoming Liskeard backs. Mark Webber, man of the match, was an inspiration to his team mates tackling bravely and quickly pouncing, like the goalkeeper he is, on the often resulting spilled ball to regain possession setting up the team for another attack. This Sunday Tavistock play at home. Tavistock U14s 44 Liskeard U14s 0 THE game started with Liskeard having kick-off, a ruck from the forwards presented the ball to Thompson who spun it to Milligan who then switched with Lloyd who side-stepped his way to the line. The second try came from Cuthbert?s blistering pace and the three-quarters quick handling. Cuthbert dived in the corner to score. The next try, O?Neil took the ball in to contact and set up a ruck where Leeson stepped over, picked up and ran for the line. The next try was brilliantly rucked over by the flankers Robinson and Morgan; O?Neil picked up and bashed his way to the line. Converted by Milligan. The next try was Leeson?s second break for the line with Coe, Roberts and Calvert driving him on. Milligan converted. Beautiful handling by the backs set up O?Neil for his second try. In the second half the forwards set up a great driving maul and Leeson did a brilliant run for his third try. A 5 metre scrum with Tavy forwards winning the ball saw Lane run round the side for the final try of the game. Man of the match: Rob Leeson Tavistock U13s 14 Liskeard U13s 5 ON the back of their 51-0 defeat of Cullompton last Sunday, Tavistock went into this game with their confidence high. Tavistock opened the scoring. Good rucking from the pack gave their backs possession on halfway, and new boy Carl Rowe ran through to score the try which Ben James converted. Liskeard put Tavistock under pressure, but the forwards responded admirably, stopping all Liskeard movements in their tracks. Ollie Whealdon provided good clearance kicking. Injuries were inevitable in the hard fought match and George Gibbons replaced Sam Brockington. Tavistock looked dangerous on the break away and just before half-time Fraser Carter almost scored in the corner. The resultant scrum led to a smooth back movement with Harrison Short cutting back inside to score Tavistock?s second try, converted by James. The second half continued with Liskeard pushing hard, but the Tavistock defence was unyielding. Great rucking often led to Tavistock turnovers and the backs always threatened to add to the score. Tavistock?s tackling was unwavering and stopped any plays by Liskeard. In the final few minutes, another breakout by the Tavistock back row was followed by a great kick for touch by full back Max Dobson. But touch was not given and Liskeard took advantage of the confusion to score in the corner. This was Tavistock?s finest performance of the season. Liskeard U12s 5 Tavistock U12s 35 TAVISTOCK?S only problem was an embarrassment of riches with a squad of 18 talented young players and the rules only allowing 12 on the pitch at any one time. The first score came from scrum half Philip Snell. The second try was inevitable with the forwards working so hard and none more so than the scorer loose head prop George Harold. The ball rarely got out wide but each time it did ground was won. In one such move a skilful reverse pass from centre Barnaby Frost released Elliot Hoyte to run the line for Tavistock?s third of the half. Tavistock dropped their guard and allowed the home side through before the change round. The change of personnel at the break took a few minutes to settle down but it was not long before fly half Jack Morgan crashed through to expand the lead. With Tavistock camped in their half Liskeard defended well for sometime until the strength of George Harold popped the ball to Barnaby Frost to round off the scoring. All the Tavistock tries were converted - four by Jack Morgan and one from Josh Stephens. Liskeard U10s B 35 Tavistock U10s B 20 TAVISTOCK, captained by Felix Davis, played the best rugby of their season in the first half. Fine tackling by Daniel Sergeant and Jack Turnock ensured Liskeard never had much time to develop passing moves. Tries from Aiden Mason and Freddie meant Tavistock went in level at half-time. In the second half Tavistock tired a little but still competed well. Felix Davis scored a fine individual try and good work by Rory Kirkman released Jamie Gibbons for his first try for Tavistock. Liskeard ran in three late tries to run out worthy winners. Liskeard U10s A 0 Tavistock U10s A 30 DESPITE the scoreline Tavistock never really played to their full potential and found Liskeard?s defence difficult to play against. Frasier Bayliss and Sam Northmore both had good games, as did Jamie Stephens on the wing. Scorers for Tavistock were William Coulton, Rhys Davis and Jonty Newton. Tavistock U9s 15 Liskeard U9s 30 TAVISTOCK suffered for being off the pace in the first 10 minutes in good rugby conditions. Liskeard had put four unanswered tries on the scoresheet before Tavistock started to play. The second half started with a fantastic scrummaging effort by Tavistock, pushing Liskeard back several yards over their line for Aaron to score the first of his two tries. This set the tone for the rest of the match, with Dominique Fegundez-Brindle suffering a painful blow for her committed tackling. Tavistock kept the pressure on, winning the scrummaging battle. Despite a couple of tries from Liskeard, Charlie Wood ran the length of the pitch to ensure Tavistock won the second half three tries to two. Tavistock U8s 10 Liskeard U8s 10 TAVISTOCK took an early lead through Daniel Dobie?s forceful run and try. Liskeard were quick to respond and only determined tackling, with Tom Jackman and Kris Chapman to the fore ,ensured that Tavistock went into half time in front. In the second period, with both squads rotating their teams the faces were different but the game followed a similar pattern. The teams then traded tries with Adam Billington touching down for Tavistock before a furious finale when Liskeard equalised in spite of valiant defensive work by Imogen Muir and Laurence Harrison. Tavistock U8s 10 Liskeard U8s 10 THE second game opened with George Carter scoring a deserved try. Liskeard fought back to take the lead and set up an exciting finish. Ollie Straughan remained focussed determined to the end and with Matthew Dobie running hard and straight, player of the match, Zak Brinkhurst made the vital opening to allow Adam Williams, supporting Zak?s run, to score the equalising try.
