AN 85-year-old man from Black Torrington died following a road traffic accident near Sheepwash on Tuesday, December 27. Police were called to the scene on an unclassified road that leads to Lake Farm Barn. The road was closed at Filly Moorgate, near Sheepwash while investigations were carried out. The driver, who was later named as Frank Troke, from Black Torrington, was taken from the scene by Devon Air Ambulance. He received treatment, but later died. Mr Troke?s 85-year-old wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to North Devon District Hospital but later released after treatment for minor injuries. The accident occurred at around 11am, while the couple were travelling in a silver Rover 216 saloon. Fire engines from Hatherleigh and Torrington were called, but were not needed to release the casualties.
