A NEW series of events to inject some action into the Okehampton nightlife kicks off this weekend, raising money for charity in the process.

On the Fly Promotions has been set up by Dan Rose and Chris Hodgson, the team behind the Okehampton Battle of the Bands competition, to put on other exciting events in the town.

Working with the Pretoria Vaults, the first event tomorrow night (Friday) is a ladies' night.

Dan said: 'This is not just your average night out, this is a fully themed venue, stage managed and dressed.

'Entertainment includes a comedy drag act as well as the Dreamboys, table service from the Pretoria Vaults staff and an after show disco downstairs in the main bar afterwards.

'On top of this all 'On the Fly' events will be making donations to chosen chartities and for this event we are supporting Breast Cancer Campaign and Hospicare.'
