STICKLEPATH?s Midsummer Ball will be part of three days of village activities next month.

Tickets are now on sale for this year?s ball which is being held on Finch Foundry Green ? behind the Devonshire Inn ? on Friday, June 20. The ball will kick off a weekend of activities in Sticklepath. On Saturday, June 21, the National Trust will sponsor a craft show in the large marquee while on Sunday afternoon, June 22, there will be the traditional tea dance.

Often likened to old-style hunt balls, the Sticklepath midsummer ball has evolved over the years into a grand event, with glamorous dresses and dinner jackets contributing to a stylish, elegant and enjoyable evening.

The sale of tickets is already going well. Given the size of the marquee, there is a limit to the number of tickets available and it is recommended they be bought sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

And if you move quickly and buy your midsummer ball ticket before June 1, the price is £18. After this date the ticket will cost £20.

Sales outlets are Donald?s, Okehampton, the Sticklepath and South Zeal Stores, the King?s Arms and Oxenham Arms, South Zeal, the Taw River and Devonshire Inn, Sticklepath and The Tors in Belstone. The price includes a buffet supper and music, to suit all ages and tastes, provided by South Zeal band ?Wishful Thinking?. Dress for this popular occasion is formal.

In addition to the ball, craft show and tea dance, and in keeping with the weekend?s theme to raise funds for the village hall refurbishment, a treasure hunt is being organized for Sunday morning, June 22. Starting at 11am in the car park and gardens of the Taw River Inn, Sticklepath, this event is aimed at all the family and should take no more than a couple of hours in and around the village.
