DON?T lose you right to vote in next May?s elections ? that is the message from West Devon Borough Council as prepararions for the poll get under way.
Electors should have registered their names with the council last year, but for those who have not there is still time. To get on the voting list, apply for a claim form from the borough council?s electoral services department, fill it in, and return it no later than March 11.
The elections take place on Thursday May 1 for parish, town and borough councillors, who will hold their seats for four years.
West Devon has 44 parish and town councils, including grouped parishes, with hundreds of councillors representing the interests of their communities. Each seat is open for election.
As from May, the borough council will have 31 seats representing 21 wards, an increase of one seat on the current complement.
Under new boundary changes, the current ward of Courtenay will be absorbed into the Lew Valley and Exbourne wards, and a new ward, called Tavistock South West, will be formed.
Anyone who believes they are not on the electoral register should telephone the registrations office on 01822 813600.
