ORGANISERS of this Sunday?s Neal Cousins Memorial Day are keeping their fingers crossed for good weather and some bumper crowds at the seventh annual charity event in Okehampton.
This year, the action takes place at Okehampton Rugby Club. The fun starts at 12.30pm, when the club?s U16 side takes on the town?s U16 soccer team.
The main match of the day kicks off at 3pm between the town?s rugby and football sides.
Dave Watts, of the organising committee, said: ?The home team always wins ? that?s why we?re calling this year?s event the Seven Year Glitch ? just in case something goes wrong!?
A presentation to the winning sides will take place at 7pm ? in the meantime, there will be a draw with some great prizes and an auction of Ernie Els signed memorabilia, including a cap, photograph and top.
A disco is being held at the club during the evening and throughout the day, there will be a ?golden boot competition? involving a wide variety of games and skills using a rugby ball.
?It?s the rugby equivalent of a penalty shoot-out,? said Dave.
?We hope lots of people will come along and enjoy the day ? I?m sure it?s going to be sunny,? he said optimistically.
Entrance to the charity day costs £3 for adults, with concessions for children and senior citizens.
