TAVISTOCK Town Council is presenting its fourth garden festival this year on Sunday, May 25 and Monday 26 from 10am to 4pm. The idea started as an attraction for visitors and residents to come into town on the Sunday and Monday of the late May Bank Holiday weekend. This year there are six entries in the model garden competition and the judging will be at 11am on Sunday. There will a wide selection of plants to admire and buy, from grasses and exotics to everyday favourites, plus the opportunity of talking to local nurserymen and suppliers to help with ideas for your own garden. The event will also see a range of ancillary items on show, including gardening books, tools, clothing, basketware, furniture, garden ornaments and gifts. The larger items will be on display on Bedford Square and in the perimeter of the market. In conjunction with the garden festival, the town hall will be holding a spring fair, with a fine mix of antiques, crafts and more. Refreshments available.
