Walkham Valley v Miller's Marauders
WALKHAM Valley played host to a team of local solicitors called Miller's Marauders.
Marauders batted first and amassed 142 runs off 30 overs, with Miller, Turner and C Shutt all retiring, having made 25 each. White was also 23 not out.
Wickets were hard to come by and Walkham only took two, both catches off the bowling of Long and Shepherd.
Walkham soon overtook the Marauders' total, going on to make 171 after 30 overs. Peers opened the batting and hit three fours in the first over. He went on to retire 25 not out as did Shepherd, J Berry and Ralph. Marauders' wicket keeper C Shutt took one catch and had two stumpings.
An excellent match played in good sprit and Marauders were magnanimous in defeat, laying on the hospitality in the Walkhampton Inn after the match. All agreed that this should become a permanent fixture in the seasons to come.
