I AM writing to congratulate the county council on approving yet another insane road layout.
If it's not enough that Tavistock has a needless roundabout on almost every available junction, that the council allowed the abombination that has been made of Drake's roundabout, the accident blackspot that is still on the Whitchurch to Grenofen road and the so called 'courtesy' crossings (unheard of in the Highway Code) which anywhere else are speed bumps littering the town centre, they have now allowed a future accident black spot to be created in Anderton Lane.
There is what can only be described as an extreme dog-leg of pavement opposite the new Tiddybrook junction, that even when negotiated at slow speeds forces you into the other side of the road, just waiting for a car to hit you head on as they round the bend.
I'm sure those that approve these madcap schemes are well intentioned, but if you want to slow traffic down in Tavistock, let's use a good old fashioned policeman with a speed gun, rather than waste money on creating a town of road traffic accidents.
