LAST Thursday at Bridestowe the Colin Kirby league cup final was played between Okehampton Mark Park Larkers and Lydford Cricket Club.

Okehampton batted first and there were steady starts from the top three in the order — H Oakly 17, L Jutson 22, J Shepard 36. With the overs running out, the lower order tried to accelerate the run rate, but with excellent bowling from S Bray (6-10) backed up by J Ord (2-9) the score was restricted to 108 all out.

In reply, Lydford made a steady start with great batting from M Credicott 36 and a steady 18 from D Chapman kept the run rate going and passed the total on the penultimate ball of the innings.

It was a great spirited game, fought right to the end, and kept the large crowd entertained.

Both teams thanked Bridestowe for hosting the event.

This Sunday Okehampton MPL are hosting a cricket tournament at the park with music and barbecue, sponsored by Stevens Estate Agents.
