THE fantastic fundraising efforts by eight local ladies were rewarded with a six course tasting menu and overnight stay at the Arundell Arms Hotel in Lifton recently.

The 300 year-old former coach house, proved to be a luxury retreat for the team, led by Tessa King, who raised more than £3,000 for St Luke's Hospice.

'The Red Ferns' raised the most amount of money from sponsorship after completing 13 miles in the Midnight Walk for Women 2011. The sought-after prize was generously donated by Adam Fox-Edwards, managing director of the Arundell Arms.

Adam said: 'I am delighted to support this most worthwhile of causes. These ladies did really well to raise so much money for the Hospice. I hope that tonight we can play our small part by giving them a great evening and one to remember long after the blisters from their walk has faded.'
