GUESTS attending the Horn of Plenty's charity lunches have raised a record £7,177 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support at Derriford.
In spite of the extreme weather and the closure of the Gunnislake bridge, the lunches managed to raise a best-ever total for the hotel's charity campaign.
Julie Leivers, owner of the Horn of Plenty, said: 'We are delighted to have raised a record amount of money this year.
'It's a remarkable achievement, and a testament to the commitment and generosity of our lovely guests.
'Most of us have been touched by cancer in some way, and it's great to be able to support such a worthwhile cause as Macmillan.'
Sian Ward-Edwards, local fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: 'We are so grateful for the continued support of the Horn of Plenty and their guests.
'Over the last three years guests have donated over £20,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support — which is amazing.
'The number of people who need our help is growing all of the time and we rely totally on donations to help them. This donation will really make a difference to local people.'
