Lucy Telfer-Smollett, a sixth form pupil at Mount House School, Tavistock, has received a major academic award to Cheltenham Ladies' College.
Lucy (pictured right), who lives at Broadbury, Okehampton, will continue her education at Cheltenham when she leaves Mount House in the summer.
Cheltenham Ladies' College has been at the forefront of girls' education for more than 150 years and has a worldwide reputation for academic excellence.
During her time at Mount House, Lucy has been an outstanding pupil in French, History and RE, and has won her form prize on more than one occasion. She takes lessons in piano and electric guitar and is a member of the school rock band. She is deputy head librarian and helped to run the recent book fair in the school.
She has played for the U13 hockey team this year, and has represented the school at rounders and netball.
