THE shop front of an Okehampton business was damaged on Monday, when a car rolled across Fore Street and smashed into the front window of the building.
The accident happened between 5.30pm-5.45pm on Monday at C & G in Fore Street. Chris Hurley, the only person in the office at the time, said he had a lucky escape: 'I was in an inner office at the time. I just heard this almighty bang and thought what was that?'
Mr Hurley said the car had been on the other side of the road but had then rolled across, fortunately missing any pedestrians or other vehicles before crashing into the shop front.
'Fortunately, no one was hurt, but there is no telling what might have happened if there had been more people about,' said Mr Hurley.
