SIMON Dell, a Lundy Island guide and schools’ education volunteer for the island, took visitors to a recent lecture at The Wharf, Tavistock on a virtual tour of this unique island — home to the puffins, seals and so much more.

With an illustrated talk of his own photographs Simon (pictured below on Lundy) showed the enthralled audience why he fell in love with this little haven at the age of nine as a schoolboy at Appledore with Lundy on his doorstep.

He has journeyed across to the island for decades showing groups its wonderful landscape and wildlife. Simon explained that the island is now in the ownership of the National Trust and management of the Landmark Trust but is also one of the most protected landscapes nationally with a multitude of protective measures in place to ensure the future of the land as well as marine conservation zones.
