A SPRING fayre aimed to bring people together is being held this Bank Holiday Monday (May 26). Mary Tavy Spring Fayre has been organised by a small group of people wanting to help bring villagers out of their homes and in to the fayre to meet fellow residents and raise money for village projects. Planned for the fayre, at the Coronation Hall and field, is a car boot sale, a £100 grand prize draw, face painting, a barbecue and beer tent, and a dog show. Groups, including the women's institute, playgroup and the village twinning association, are all holding stalls at the fayre — and the organisers hope that more people will want to get involved and hold their own stall, or car boot to show their products. Cheryl Downham, who is one of the fayre organisers, said: 'A small group of people got together in order to stop Mary Tavy becoming a ghost village and to get to know one another and help raise funds for the village projects. 'I hope it will be a big success and stays for many years to come and draws everyone in from all over to come and take part.' The fayre is being held from noon to 4pm. The dog show will begin at 1pm. Contact Cheryl on 01822 810177 to book a stall at the fayre — £5 per gazebo or car boot and £6 per van.
