OKEHAMPTON Library has a busy schedule planned for the summer holidays, with Olympic and animation themed workshops.

On Monday, July 23 youngsters can drop into the library from 10am to 11.30am to make a model of their favourite book character taking part in an Olympic sport, to be part of a display in the library throughout the summer.

On Tuesday, July 31 from 10am to 2pm, parents and children aged four to eleven will have the exciting opportunity to create a short animated film using cameras, modelling and artwork to link with StoryLab, this year's summer reading challenge.

Equipment and refreshments will be provided, though a packed lunch will be needed. Bookings are needed in advance as places are limited.

There is also a competition for children to design an Olympic medal featuring their favourite book character.

Entry forms are available in the library, with prizes for each age category, five to eight year olds and nine to twelve year olds.

The closing date is August 31.
