THE Hatherleigh Rotary Charity Auction was last week deemed a ?huge success? by its organisers. The event, held at the George Hotel in Hatherleigh last Friday, saw a holiday on Exmoor, a holiday in Nice, pleasure flights in both conventional and microlight planes, large joints of beef, and a day at a local shoot up for auction. Entertainment was brought to the event by auctioneer Phillip Pyle, who arrived looking like Elton John! The total raised from the event amounted to £1,900 and will primarily go to taking senior citizens from the area to the pantomime Holsworthy in the New Year. The remaining amount will be used for other charities. The club expressed thanks to everyone who donated and helped with the event and to Phillip Pyle for his tireless effort.
