A FELINE adventurer who 'hitchhiked' from London to North Tawton in a lorry full of chocolate has this week sparked an appeal for information. The RSPCA is asking the public for help, in a bid to trace the owner of a black and white female cat which was discovered in the back of the haulage lorry when it stopped at Gregory's Transport Yard in North Tawton on January 15. The lorry, which began its journey in Denmark, had previously stopped at a council refuse area in Southwark, London. The RSPCA think that this is when the cat probably jumped on board as it was not there during previous checks of the lorry. The cat was collected by the RSPCA and taken to North Park Vets in North Tawton, who have named the cat Gregory's Girl. She is thought to be between four and eight years old and is in good health. A spokesperson for the vets said: 'She's doing really well. She's a lovely cat and really affectionate, obviously someone's pet. 'The RSPCA are doing as much as they can to find where she has come from but nothing has transpired yet.' RSPCA animal collection officer, Felicity Cross, who collected Gregory's Girl and took her to North Park Vets, said: 'This cat has either jumped on the lorry in London or Okehampton, but because it was not microchipped we do not know who it belongs to. 'Hopefully somebody will recognise it though and get in touch so we can reunite them with their pet.' Anyone who recognises the cat should contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234999.
