Friends of the charity are raising funds as part of ?Butterfly Week? ? a nationwide attempt to boost the coffers of children?s hospices in the UK.
Local outlets will be selling butterfly badges as a fitting symbol of the fragile lives the hospices care for.
Children?s Hospice South West operates Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, the only hospice of its kind in the region, and is trying to raise £15 million pounds to open a second one at Charlton Farm, near Bristol.
The charity exists to help children with life limiting conditions, and their families, and provides round the clock care for youngsters who are terminally ill.
Little Bridge House provides a free service to those needing its shelter but receives no government support so is dependent on donations from the public to cover its £1.8 million annual running costs.
