OKEHAMPTON firefighter Neil Palmer was recently presented with the fire service long service and good conduct medal, marking 20 years’ service as a retained firefighter.

The Sticklepath postman said: ‘Every shout is different and when that alerter goes off you never know what you will be dealing with. Sometimes when I get home from delivering the post I’m straight out the door again. The last 20 years have gone quick and I don’t intend to give up just yet!’
