AS part of Devon Celebration of Food, the Moorlands Farm Shop at Whiddon Down will be opening its doors to the public next month to promote quality food and drink from Devon and beyond.

Located in the old petrol station, the farm shop, home of Dartmoor Happy Hogs, will be hosting a tasting day on Saturday, October 16, with local suppliers, a barbecue and a range of products created specially for the Devon Celebration of Food.

Moorlands Farm Shop has been the home of Dartmoor Happy Hogs since 1998 and when the premises was bought by the Fishleigh Estate near Hatherleigh last year, it became the flagship of not only the Happy Hogs, but also for the award-winning Fishleigh Estate-produced organic meat.

The day will be launched with the official re-opening of the store at 10am. Throughout the day until 4pm, local suppliers will be offering a chance to taste their food and drink and the shop will be showing off its own range of products from sausages, pork, beef and lamb to olive oils from further afield.
