YET another flooding incident in Whitchurch's Anderton Lane last week sparked an appeal to the public to dispose of litter carefully.
The lane has been prone to frequent flooding in the recent wet weather, and following calls for action, Devon County Council undertook clearance work to unblock problem areas so water could run more freely.
The lane flooded again last Wednesday morning — but this time, litter was the cause of the water back-up.
Tavistock's county councillor Debo Sellis said: 'This time, it flooded because there was a plastic bag over the drain.
'I know this continuing bad weather is unprecedented, but problems are exacerbated when you get litter clogging up drains.'
Cllr Sellis, who regularly goes out with the Tidy Tavi litter pickers, appealed to residents to dispose of waste in litter bins or take it home with them.
