OKEHAMPTON residents are 'adamant' that their people power should be listened to, as protests against development in Okehampton continue. Residents' feelings were running high once again at the latest meeting of the North Okehampton Residents Association, in response to planning the developments that will affect the north of the town. Chief among the issues brought forward for debate were the possible loss of on-road parking in North Street and the lack of provision for green spaces in the proposed developments. Forty residents attended the meeting at the Ockment Centre, who voiced their concerns to Cllr Ken Williams, one of Okehampton's West Devon borough councillors. Cllr Williams has urged residents to write to the borough council. A spokesman for NORA said the residents' association was adamant that the borough council should listen to their demonstration of people power.
